Why You Keep Saying Yes When You Want to Say No

The people-pleaser in me didn't arrive overnight. She was built one small decision at a time: volunteering when I didn't want to, taking responsibility that wasn't mine, and convincing myself it was simply what needed to be done. The hardest lesson wasn't learning how to say no. It was realizing that someone else's expectations were never mine to manage in the first place.
